Dog-friendly trails in Orange County
Orange County gives you everything from coastal canyon walks to inland regional parks. Most of these options are on-leash, so the useful question is less “are dogs allowed?” and more “what kind of outing is this?”
Holy Jim Historic Trail — Trabuco Canyon
A true trail-day option with new smells, shade pockets and a more adventurous feel. Go on a cool morning and verify current trail conditions before leaving.
Laguna Coast Wilderness Park — Laguna Beach
Coastal canyon scenery with limited shade. Best for cooler mornings and dogs comfortable with a more active on-leash outing.
Peters Canyon Regional Park — Orange
Rolling multi-use trails close to central OC, good for a moderate on-leash adventure.
Santiago Oaks Regional Park — Orange
A more adventurous regional trail system that gives you a real outing without leaving Orange County.
O'Neill Regional Park — Trabuco Canyon
Dogs are allowed in the campground, paved roads and select trails on leash. Trees and longer outdoor time make it a different kind of dog day.
Heat matters
Many OC trails have exposed stretches and limited shade. Earlier starts, water and current trail-condition checks make a much better plan than treating every trail the same.
